Police arrest three alleged robbers of courier vehicle in Malalane
The Mpumalanga SAPS has arrested three suspects of a robbery of a courier vehicle.
On June 10 at about 11:00, a RAM Couriers vehicle was robbed at the Marloth Park turn-off on the N4. Traffic officials on duty intercepted the suspects’ vehicle on the N4 near the airport. They identified the luggage and notified the Malelane SAPS, who immediately attended to the matter and apprehended three suspects aged 37, 38 and 53.

Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted having committed the robbery and one suspect pointed out the crime scene. A total of 53 parcels in boxes were retrieved from the suspect’s vehicle, a white Toyota Avanza. The boxes are said to have contained cellphones and other unknown valuables. The police also found a 9mm pistol with four rounds of live ammunitions, which belonged to deceased person from Matsulu.

Both the vehicle and items were seized. The firearm will be subjected to a ballistic testing to verify if it was used in the commission of crimes elsewhere, according to a provincial police spokesperson, Brig Selvy Mohlala.
The three suspects are from Matsulu and appeared in the Malalane Periodical Court on Monday June 13, facing charges of possession of suspected stolen properties, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and armed robbery.
