Bleedathon collects 66 units from Lowvelders

Lowveld businesses and community members came together to donated much-needed blood to the Bleedathon.

The Bleedathon at the Nelspruit Rugby Club on Sunday June 26 was deemed a success.  Over 60 donors participated in the blood drive.

Various local businesses competed to see which one could send the most donors, and the winner of the day was Pam Golding.  Event organiser Ista van Zyl said 66 units of blood were donated in total, and that Pam Golding had brought in 23 donors.

The blood drive also had several food stalls available to visitors, providing fresh coffee, cupcakes, gourmet sandwiches, pancakes, pizzas and locally made hot sauces.

A few craft stalls were also set up and sold soaps, jewellery and bags. Van Zyl said plans are already under way to hold the next Bleedathon in September.
