Electricity in West Acres to be restored by this afternoon

The municipality said teams are currently working to restore power.

A post by the City of Mbombela’s Facebook page said the power outage in West Acres was initially caused by cable theft in the area.
However, after replacing the cable and restoring power to some residents, a cable fault of single phasing was detected and could not be located with current test instruments.
The post said arrangements were made to cut approximately 100m of the cable in the i’langa Mall area and that the teams working on the issue sought external assistance.

“Our teams are working on it now and we estimate that power will be restored at 16:00. The ongoing load-shedding also impacted negatively on the work as the fault was detected late,” said the municipality in its post.

“The City would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused and will try everything possible to restore power sooner.”
