Lowveld dams’ levels show mixed volumes
The listed dams in the Lowveld and Ehlanzeni District recorded mixed results over the past week. Some swelled, others declined, and some remain unchanged.

The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) weekly state of reservoirs report of July 25 shows that some listed dams recorded some improvements, some levels dropped, and others remained unchanged in terms of water volumes.
Driekoppies Dam increased from 100.4% to 100.5%, Kwena from 100.2% to 100.3% and Da Gama from 99.3% to 99.8%.

Dams that remained unchanged include Blyderivierpoort at 100.2%, Buffelskloof at 100.2% and Primkop at 100.9%.
On the decline mode, Longmere dropped from 100.7% to 100.5%, Witklip from 100.1% to 98.3%, Inyaka from 86.5% to 86.2% and Ohrigstad from 50.4% to 49.7%.

On average, the listed dam levels in Mpumalanga remained unchanged at 95.2%, which is more than 10% higher than the same period last year. In the water management areas (WMAs), water levels in the Olifants WMA slightly improved from 84.3% to 84.5% and the Inkomati-Usuthu WMA remained unchanged at 98.8%.
The DWS calls on the public to intensify water conservation efforts and use water wisely and sparingly.
The department also encouraged the public to join the Clear Rivers Campaign, and adopt, clean and protect a watercourse around them to ensure water security for current and future generations.
