Mbombela’s Stonehenge community makes the commitment to clean up the suburb

Stonehenge community members gathered on the corner of Percy Fitzpatrick Drive and Van Rooyen Street on Saturday July 30 to start the clean-up effort.

In an attempt to beautify the Stonehenge area, members of the community, aided by ACS Security, came together to clean the suburb on Saturday July 30.

Community activist and DA councillor Thea Rix said the Stonehenge residents had recently elected a committee with the purpose of beautifying the area, and the first port of call was to clean the streets of rubbish, litter and refuse.

“The committee was so wonderful. They made flyers and shared them across social media. They were outstanding,” said Rix.

“Everyone got to work. Some residents asked if they could contribute by cleaning up their own streets, which they did. The whole clean-up effort made such a difference. About 90% of the streets in Stonehenge were cleared.

“Everyone worked really hard and ACS Security was also involved and helped out right until the end.”
Rix said everyone decided to call it a day at 12:00.
