Fires blaze around Lowveld

There are currently about six fires raging around the Lowveld, said the manager of the Lowveld and Escarpment Fire Protection Association (Lefpa), André Scheepers.

He said though these fires are not under control yet, they are being tended to by Lefpa, Working on Fire, some farmers and others.

According to him, there are fires in the Elands Valley, in and around Mbombela, outside White River and in the Graskop area.

Lowvelders are warned of today’s (August 18) high fire danger, as well as tomorrow’s.
