Care Buddies Social Hub is launched in White River

Elderly residents of the greater Lowveld are all invited to the White River Care Buddies' Social Hub, first launched on September 7.

White River’s Care Buddies Social Hub launch took place on September 7 at the NG Gemeente Witrivier.

These get-togethers will take place on the first and third Wednesday of each month, starting at 10:00. It is open to all residents of the greater Lowveld area of all denominations and languages.

“Each meeting will gather momentum and will enrich the lives of the elderly in the local community, one meeting/interaction at a time,” said Issy de Lira of the White River Care Buddies.

Val Burns, Ingrid Brink and Sheila Tebbit.

“Our vision is to create a space and promote active ageing in a safe and easily accessible environment for active seniors (65+) who wish to be involved in their community and want to enjoy a better quality of life through various experiences.”

According to De Lira, the goal is to provide appropriate learning opportunities that will, for example, assist seniors in taking charge of their health, maintaining a positive attitude, stimulating their creativity and developing skills for potential new hobbies, and most of all, to stay social.
