Fast action for Numbi road tourism security
The SAPS has appointed an "A team" to heighten security along the Numbi road.
The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism (KLCBT), with the Numbi community and Hi-Tech Security, has stepped up security measures along the notorious Numbi road, following the murder of German tourist Jörg Schnarr on Monday October 3.
Jan Labuschagne of White River Hi-Tech said, “We upscaled our security two months ago, but now the KLCBT has facilitated the erection of additional cameras and heightened surveillance.”

The cameras have been placed at secret locations and will be used to monitor suspicious activities and track criminal suspects. Hi-Tech will continue its 24-hour armed patrolling of the road and surrounding areas.
Meanwhile, the Numbi community has removed all but one of the road’s notoriously oversized speed bumps that have increased the threat of attacks. The bumps forced drivers to drive dead slow, allowing criminals to pounce.
The SAPS has appointed an “A team” to catch the criminals who attempted to hijack the group of four German tourists earlier this week and murdered one.
The police commissioner, Bheki Cele, arrived at the scene of the murder on Wednesday morning.
