Taxi operators bury the hatchet for the sake of commuters in Burgersfort
Case sub judice but taxi operators are working on a solution after disagreements.
Motorists were left stranded during a disagreement between the Druta Taxi Association and Polokwane Burgersfort Taxi Association. This led to the R37 in Burgerfort to be blocked last week.
The Steelburger/Lydenburg News contacted both taxi associations that were involved. They were not at liberty to discuss specifics as the matter is currently sub judice.

Shoppers and employees could not report for duty on time as the road was blocked next to the Tubatse bridge. It was closed off for more than four hours.
Speaking on national radio Thobela FM on Tuesday September 27, Isaac Mafahla of the Polokwane Burgersfort Taxi Association confirmed they have settled their challenges.
“We are currently in negotiations and we assure commuters that all is hunky dory. We are ready to work together to ensure our people arrive safely at their destinations,” said Mafahla. He was not able to diverge more information as there is a current court pending between the two taxi associations, the matter is sub judice.
“We have resolved to sit down and talk when we have challenges with our counterparts. We once again apologise to those who were affected by the blockading last week.”
Meanwhile, some of the commuters were angered by the situation.”The R37 is an important route. We plead with the taxi operators to refrain from blocking it when they have their issues. People were stranded for hours after the road was blocked. The police have to intervene and arrest whoever blocks our roads,” said a resident, Thabiso Malatji.
