Tokanui Warriors in sevens heaven

The Tokanui Warriors made locals proud when they participated in the annual Klerksdorp Sevens rugby
competition.

The tournament was played in Klerksdorp from September 29 to October 1.

“The players participated in the biggest 7s rugby tournament in the country. We competed in a two-day
series against the best,” said the team manager, John Coetzee.

“We had two teams, team A participated in the social league and came in third place. Team B won the
fourth position in the bronze league,” said Janus Weber.

Tokanui Warriors was established in 2018, and it consists of a majority of rugby players who were part of the
Ratels and Rooikatte rugby teams.

“The Tokanui Warriors team would like to thank the sponsors who made it possible for them to go and enjoy the
game of rugby,” said Coetzee.

The team managers said they will once again compete in the 7s competition in 2023. They asked for local support and sponsors in order to give their best on the rugby field.
