Skhila Secondary School learners excel in debates

The SA Agency for Science and Technology Advancement’s National Schools Debate Competition provides learners the opportunity to take part in high-level debating.

Charlene Sinclair and Vanessa Malatje, two Grade 11 learners of Skhila Secondary School, have just returned from the Tshwane High Court, where the fourth round of the mock debate trials took place from October 5 to 9.

Charlene and Vanessa won the third round at the Mbombela High Court on September 2, and were part of the team that represented Mpumalanga. According to one of the educators who coached the learners, Simon Makhwanazi, this was the first time they had competed nationally.
