Alleged copper thieves nabbed
Preliminary investigations showed that the cables were intended to be sold in Burgersfort

Nine suspects appeared in the Sekhukhune Magistrate’s Court on November 9. The suspects faced charges
of possession of suspected stolen copper cables, following their apprehension at Apel on November 7.
“Police were conducting patrol duties along the D4190 in Ga-Nkwana Village when they spotted a suspicious white Ford Ranger bakkie heading towards Burgersfort. The vehicle with nine occupants was stopped and searched.

The police discovered some copper cables that could not be not accounted for,” said the Limpopo police spokesperson, Brigadier Motlafelo Mojapelo.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 44, who reside in Atok Village, were immediately apprehended for the possession of copper cables believed to have been stolen from a closed mine in Groblersdal.
