Burgersfort SAPS embarks on crime awareness campaign

They spoke to the community about the tendencies of crime and distributed pamphlets with safety tips.

The Burgersfort SAPS recently embarked on an anti-crime awareness campaign covering this town and the surroundings communities.

The station’s corporate communications and social crime prevention members led this initiative.

They spoke to the community about the tendencies of crime and distributed pamphlets with safety tips.
The objective was to strengthen the partnership between the communities and SAPS, and discuss plans for the festive season.

The station’s communications officer, Sergeant Victoria Maluleke, said, “The team visited Tubatse Community Radio, Twin City, Castle Square and the SupaSave complex.

“Among topics covered during the campaign were theft by false pretences, shoplifting, theft out of motor vehicles, fraud, crime hotspots, job scams, gender-based violence, and domestic violence.”
Members of the community were advised to be vigilant when out shopping.
“The festive season is fast approaching and criminals will target shoppers on the CBD. Be alert. Report any criminal activities to the police,” said Maluleke.
