The N4 between Alkmaar and Schagen is now open

It is unclear what caused the accident. There were no fatalities, but the truck driver sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

The recovery of the overturned coal truck is still under way on the N4 between Alkmaar and Schagen, after the truck overturned today, May 9.

According to the spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, earlier, only one westbound lane towards Ngodwana was closed. However, to allow for the flow of traffic and the removal of the truck, now both of them are. The eastbound lanes have been converted into two single carriageways for vehicles travelling in both directions.

Mmusi said the cause of the accident is unknown at the moment, but there were no fatalities. The driver sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

The backlog of traffic has been cleared.
