Barberton minor dies in accident on his way to school

While on his way to school, a 10-year-old learner of Ekhiyeni Primary School was killed on the R40 in Barberton on June 7.

Reports of the incident were received at 07:42. According to Hi-Tech Barberton, a motorist had hit the child, who was on foot, after attempting to swerve out. Ambulance services declared him dead on the scene.

Community members had allegedly been assaulting the vehicle’s driver upon the SAPS and Hi-Tech’s arrival. He was taken to hospital.

All services are currently on the scene of the accident.
