St Thomas College in Burgersfort organises Science and Maths Expo
The expo was in the fields of mathematics, physical sciences, geography, life sciences and natural sciences.
Since the expo’s hiatus in 2017, St Thomas College in Burgersfort resumed with its Science and Maths Expo on Friday.
Pupils from grades six to 11 gathered at Mary Matthew Hall to show off their projects.
They were in the fields of mathematics, physical sciences, geography, life sciences and natural sciences.
According to the school’s board of directors, the projects are to generate and sharpen natural curiosity, innovation and inventiveness and to lay emphasis on the correlation between science and mathematics as a major instrument for achieving goals of self-reliance, socio-economic and socio-ecological development and further to solve varied issues persisting in the social and physical environment.
The principal, TGK John, thanked the organisers, teachers, and learners for their contribution.
The participants representing their class took part with a highly competitive spirit and exhibited innovative working models and still models.
“In an endeavour to promote scientific and mathematical attitudes among budding young pupils, this exhibition was one of a kind,” added John.
He said they will arrange the expo annually.
Judges gave their decision after inspecting each project on its merit. The best exhibits in each section were announced.
