Community prays for safe return of kidnapped Burgersfort business man, Solly Tayob
They all prayed for divine intervention in reuniting Tayob with his family.
Yehlangelozi, a local NPO in Burgersfort, organised a mass prayer meeting on Tuesday June 20 for the safe return of Solly Tayob, fondly known as ‘uncle Solly’.
The two-hour prayer session was held at the MHT Hyundai dealership in Burgersfort. Various faith-based organisations, pastors, the Nkwana Foundation and MHT Hyundai employees attended the meeting.
They all prayed for divine intervention in reuniting Tayob with his family. The speakers also said how he had made a change in local communities and supported initiatives that developed Tubatse and its people.
The event’s organiser, Hellen Ndinisa of Yehlangelozi, said with prayer, anything was possible. “We pray for his safe return. The abductors have taken the wrong man. Let’s continue praying for his safe return.”
Uncle Solly, as he is known, was abducted by a group of men at his dealership in Burgersfort on June 2.
A team comprised of members of the Organised Crime Investigation Unit, the Burgersfort SAPS’s detectives and members of the Crime Intelligence Unit, is still hot on the heels of the suspects. Cases of kidnapping and the pointing of a firearm are being investigated.

“It is reported that Tayob was standing at his filling station next to his Hyundai dealership when the incident occurred at about 19:30 that day. Five unknown armed male suspects accosted the businessman. They forced him into a black Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI. They drove away from the scene followed by a white Mercedes-Benz with registration number 786 AGM L,” said the Limpopo SAPS’s spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
The SAPS has appealed to the public for help in tracking down these suspects.
