Caregivers in Lydenburg complete Alzheimer’s course

The caregivers and nursing staff at the Rusoord Old Age Home have completed a specialised training programme from Alzheimer's South Africa.

To assist the staff in caring for these patients and also to support their families, Rusoord funded this course.

During a special dinner held in the staff’s honour on August 10, the staff received their certificates.
According to Alzheimer’s SA, Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia.

The term dementia refers to a group of conditions characterised by progressive degeneration of the brain, that affect memory, thought, behaviour and emotion. Some symptoms include being unable to remember words, having difficulty finding the right words, or not understanding what others are saying.

Although individuals experience dementia in their own way, eventually those affected are unable to care for themselves and need help with all aspects of daily life. There is currently no cure.
The management thanked the staff for their dedication to these patients.
