Chery Mbombela Woofstock continues its mission to help animals in need in Mpumalanga
This year's Woofstock was recently held in aid of non-profit organisations that help endangered rhinos and other animals in dire need.
The Chery Mbombela Woofstock was held at Mustangs – The Dancing Place on September 9 after the Railway Yard Family Market.
It was in aid of non-profit organisations Stop Poaching Endangered African Rhinos (SPEAR) and the Graskop Animals in Need (GAIN).
Lowvelders, dressed in their creative hippy attire, came out in their numbers to support the fundraiser.

One of the organisers, Monique O’Reilly, said dog food was gifted to GAIN, and from the funds that were raised during the event, SPEAR would be helped to obtain harnesses and other items on its wish list. “The food we received from Absolute Pets was valued at R11 625 and the food from SPAR was valued at R2 100 which all was donated to GAIN. After all expenses being paid, we have R10 000 left to use to buy harnesses for SPEAR.”
She said they do not know as yet how much was raised, but she hoped it would be enough to support these organisations.

Live music was offered by some of the best local and national artists and bands in the country. These include Biggy, the Black Cat Bones, Martin Bester and Band, the Acoustics, Reborne, Soul Taxi SA and Coenie Naudé.

Attendees enjoyed the live music and participated in lucky draws, and some entrants walked away with some unique prizes.
“We received a lot of positive feed- back from the people who attended the previous ones, as well as new people who joined this year. The bands were a real hit, and I think that every year from here on out, we will just get better,” said O’Reilly.

“We made the decision this year to go to a bigger venue and get bigger bands, and with the feedback we received, it definitely was the right decision. The Woofstock has become something everyone looks forward to each year.”
