Djate Traditional Council empowers local youth
Some of certificates are registered with the Mining Qualification Authority.
The Djate Traditional Council in Ntswaneng Village has partnered with Mediro Training academy to empower and develop the local youth.
More than 30 locals were bestowed with certificates in various fields in a graduation ceremony at the Djate Council on Friday.
The youth graduated with certificates in sewing, plumbing, computer skills, fitting and turning, dump truck driving, front-end loader operating, and many other qualifications.
The event was honoured by the local chief, Kgoshi Tebogo Thobejane, local communities and the members from the Djate Development Forum.

Mediro’s John Moropane said the certificates acquired by the youth will assist them in getting jobs within the mining industry, while others can open businesses and assist locals with services.
He said they are registered with the Mining Qualification Authority.
“This partnership between Mediro and the Djate Council will ensure the youth are equipped with skills and they will be employable.
“We gave you skills to start something. Go out there and seek opportunities and make a name for yourself. There are opportunities galore in Tubatse; grab those opportunities.”

Kgoshi Thobejane said they assisted in the training in order to uplift local youth and to aid them in job searching.
One of the graduates, Mapula Ngwatle, was thankful to the two institutions. “We see ourselves as winners. We are now competent to be employed. The ball is in our court; we will strive to get those opportunities.”
