Nelspruit SPCA shows Matsafeni how it’s done

The Nelspruit SPCA distributed some food and blankets for the animals, and constructed shelters from materials discovered on-site.

The Nelspruit SPCA visited this area on September 15 to educate pet owners and provide advice and assistance to improve the lives of all the animals.
Field officers Monique Nortjé and Mathews Moyo distributed food and blankets for the animals, built shelters with materials they found on-site, treated them for internal and external parasites and vaccinated some of them against rabies.

Some members of Matsafeni assisted with supplying food, old duvets and pillows, shampoo and dewormers for the benefit of the animals in the township. Cash donations covered the cost of dipping the animals.

During the SPCA’s visit, they found goats tied up with ropes. After educating the owners, they untied them before taking them to a proper place where they could safely feed and have access to shelter and water.

The visit was welcomed by the public as they brought their domestic animals to be checked, washed and vaccinated. They also promised they will apply what they had learnt from the SPCA in future, and take better care of their animals.
