Suspended MTPA CEO Hekzin Vilakazi resigns ahead of disciplinary hearing

Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), has resigned weeks before he was due to face a disciplinary hearing. 

MBOMBELA – Hekzin Vilakazi, the suspended CEO of the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA), has resigned.

His resignation came only a few weeks before he had to face a disciplinary hearing.

Vilakazi was suspended on August 5 following an internal forensic report that was tabled before the MTPA board.

Vilakazi was facing, among others, allegations of financial mismanagement and approving tenders worth millions of rand without following the correct procedures.

Tudie Grovè-Morgan, the DA spokesperson for finance, economic development, and tourism, has called on Premier Mandla Ndlovu to lay criminal charges against Vilakazi.

Vilakazi did not respond to questions sent to him.
