MTPA announces temporary closure of Blyde River Canyon
The Blyde River Canyon will close temporarily at select points in late 2025 and early 2026 to accommodate film production.
The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) shared in their latest statement today, November 12, that the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve will temporarily close due to production filming. The agency assured the public that other tourist attractions on the Panorama Route, like God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, Three Rondavels, and Pinnacle, will not be affected by this closure.

Closure dates for 2025:
• The Blyde River waterfall will be closed from November 17 to December 23.
• The Swadini viewpoint gates will be closed from November 24 to December 24 (except for prearranged boat trips.)
Closure dates for 2026:
• The Blyde River waterfall will be closed from December 31 to January 5.
• The Swadini viewpoint will be open to the public, with security guards deployed at specific locations.

The agency concluded that there will be no restrictions on Forever Resort access or accommodation.
