Malelane SUPERSPAR, voted the best retail butchery at the 2024 Cleaver Awards ceremony, has now also won the Industry Favourite Award for being one of the best of the best in Mpumalanga.
To receive the Industry Favourite Award, the store needed a minimum of 10 000 votes, which Malelane SUPERSPAR comfortably achieved.
The 20th Best Business Cleaver Awards recently took place in Cape Town, recognising the most distinguished butchers across South Africa who exemplify excellence in customer service, product quality and business innovation. Each year, the Best Business Cleaver Awards recognise those butchers who go above and beyond in providing exceptional service and quality products to their customers.
The prestigious event, which marks two decades of celebrating the nation’s top talent in the meat industry, saw some of the finest butchers receive the coveted Titans Trophies, a symbol of their status as the best of the best.
It is an outstanding achievement that Marc Burmeister and his superb team at the Malelane SUPERSPAR butchery have won not one, but two prestigious awards in one year.
Earlier in the year, Burmeister and his team were up for and won another award at the 19th Cleaver Awards. For this award, the process began with consumer nominations, allowing customers to recognise their favourite butcheries.
From there, the South African Meat Industry Company conducted a comprehensive audit of the top 100 nominated butcheries. This audit was rigorous, assessing key areas such as food safety, hygiene, value for money, product quality and customer service.
The 2024 audit was especially thorough, covering the butcheries’ entire operation rather than just focusing on specific sections, like beef, as had been done in previous years. This holistic approach ensured that only the best butcheries who demonstrate excellence across all criteria receive this esteemed recognition.
Malelane SUPERSPAR fell in the category ‘Meat Markets’, celebrating excellence in hyper/supermarkets across provinces, with one provincial and national winner.
Winning the 2024 National Cleaver Award means that Malelane SUPERSPAR has excelled in all these aspects, making it a leader in quality and service, a true testament to the high standards they maintain.
Being crowned the national winner in the meat market category goes far beyond just receiving the plaque, it solidifies the reputation as being one of the most outstanding butcheries in the country.
