DCM and local mines participate in annual wellness games
Miners participated in aerobics, 10 km, 5 km and 2.5 km races, as well as netball, soccer, tug of war, sack race, egg race, and many other activities.

Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine (DCM) was among the local mines that participated in the Limpopo Annual Tripartite Forum Wellness Day at Hoërskool Lydenburg on March 14.
The 2026 version of this event was hosted by Two Rivers Mine in partnership with other mines in the Eastern Limb. Despite rainy weather conditions, this event brought together the mining community to promote health, teamwork, and wellness through sport and shared engagement.
The Tripartite Wellness Day is an annual event initiated by the Limpopo Underground Regional Tripartite Forum (RTF). The event aims to provide a caring environment for mining employees together with their families.

This event gives mine workers an opportunity to interact with their peers, share work challenges and experiences, and ultimately gain support from a dedicated team of wellness practitioners, volunteers, and tripartite stakeholders.

The event is crucial for reinforcing safety and health standards, fostering solidarity between labour and management, and supporting the ‘zero harm’ strategy in mining operations. It provides a platform to address both physical health and psychological well-being, fostering a supportive work environment.

More than 1 000 tripartite stakeholders from Limpopo regions and the peri-mining communities attended. The main objective was to encourage healthy living among mine workers and their families. To promote a positive quality of life by supporting the physical, emotional, and social well-being of employees, while providing a change of environment from the mining site or office setting.
Employees and their families had the opportunity to enjoy complementary therapies to help them relax and cope with their daily duties.

The day featured various activities, including sports and health checks, although heavy afternoon rains in Lydenburg affected some of the events. Attendees participated in aerobics, 10km, 5km and 2.5km races, netball, soccer, tug of war, sack race, egg race, and many more activities. Trophies and medals were handed to the participants.

Participants also underwent HIV voluntary counselling and testing, blood glucose testing, cholesterol testing, as well as blood pressure testing. The RTF co-chairperson, Wayne Mbhalati on behalf of DCM management thanked all role players and miners that honoured the event.
