Demonstrating the spirit of Ubuntu, Lets Cruize Travel and SN Bennett Accountant and Auditors Inc donated Christmas food vouchers valued at R4 000 to 26 families in the Lowveld on Thursday.
The handover took place at the Mbombela Civic Centre.

The company’s director, Sfiso Bennett, said the initiative was not about publicity but about giving back to families in need, particularly during the festive season. He explained that giving back is part of the company’s culture and that they believe in helping where they can, without waiting to accumulate wealth before making a difference.

“We have been involved in many community charity initiatives across Mpumalanga, particularly in poverty-stricken rural areas. Our work has since expanded to six provinces, as well as to Mozambique and Eswatini,” Bennett said. “We donate food parcels, school uniforms and also assist with house renovations. At present, we are building a house for a family in need because we realised that it does not help to give people food when they do not even have shelter to store it.”
Bennett added that the company supports several families on an ongoing basis, visiting them monthly to ensure they have food to eat.
He said food vouchers were chosen for this initiative to allow beneficiaries the dignity of purchasing food of their own choice. The vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash and are intended strictly for food purchases during the festive season.
“We are appealing to beneficiaries to appreciate the gesture and to use the vouchers responsibly by buying food and not reselling them. Our aim is to ensure that families, especially children, have food on their tables. Children do not understand hunger, and it is important that they are cared for,” Bennett said.
“Personally, I believe that when you are blessed, you must share that blessing with others.”
He explained that beneficiaries were identified through visits conducted by staff members in the villages where the families live. The company also worked with City of Mbombela councillors to identify households most in need of assistance.
Bennett wished the families a prosperous festive season and encouraged others who are able to extend a helping hand to those in need.
