Leydsdorp might be tiny, but it’s interesting

It is said that Leydsdorp was declared a city 1 October 1890, making Leydsdorp the smallest City in South Africa.

This is because President Paul Kruger, who had a house in Leydsdorp, had to sign important documents which could only be done in a city. It was on one of his favourite hunting destinations.

Today, Leydsdorp and Kapiri Hills game farms are available to each one, not just Presidents. Leydsdorp is well positioned between Tzaneen and Gravelotte. Magoebaskloof and Haenersburg is just an hours drive from Leydsdorp.

This historic town, with it’s historic hotel and bar with modern facilities, has been newly renovated but has a classic feel to it. The town is nestled in between game farms, which mean ample game viewing available during your visit.
