MALALANE – Unhappy home owners from on Air Street from this town have barricaded the road with tractor tyres and rocks.
According to homeowners on this street, this in a bid to prevent trucks using the suburban area as an overnight truck depot.
Speaking to Corridor Gazette home-owners from this street said they can no longer tolerate the sound of trucks at 01:00 in the morning driving in and out of the street, and at times the general commotion made by these trucks make it difficult to hear should intruders be luring on properties.
“As home owners we came together and decided that this had got out of control, we could not have our living area turned into an overnight for trucks. The most frustrating part is that these truck drivers drive in and out at anytime, which is truly a huge inconvenience for all of us. Imagine being woken up at 01:00 am by the loud sound of a truck changing gears as it drives out of the street, or even the sound of more than one truck engine running through the night,” said a home-owner who wished not to be named.
The property owner continued to say, “Late it may be quiet in terms of crime, but should this crime problem ever resurface, with the loud sound from the trucks throughout the night. It would be difficult hearing prowling intruders on ones property. We had to do something to try and address this problem as home-owners affected by the problem,”
Among other concerns raised by home-owners is the damage caused by trucks to the road and street signage
