Suspected car thieves appear in court but are out on bail

Two male suspects appeared in the Tonga Magistrate Court on charges of possession of stolen vehicles.

 

TONGA – Two male suspects appeared in the local Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of stolen vehicles.
They were arrested after the vehicles were found parked in their garages.
One was a Ford Ranger Club Cab with a Mozambican number plate, which belongs to a Ford dealership in Silverton.
Two more vehicles were recovered at the second suspect’s residence, namely a Toyota Land Cruiser and Hilux. According to police, both were reportedly hijacked in Douglasdale, Sandton.
After the men were apprehended, it was established during questioning that there was another Toyota double-cab Hilux which they had hidden.
They are currently out on bail of R1 500 each and are due back in court on November 25.
Meanwhile in a separate incident, police recovered another Toyota Land Cruiser which was stolen during a house robbery in Strydomblok last Wednesday.
No arrests have yet been made.
Police are investigating.
