Tourists held at gunpoint

According to Mr. Jacques Meiring from Bossies Community Justice, it is suspected that it is the same gang that is responsible for the numerous panga attacks in the Lowveld over the past few weeks.

MBOMBELA –In the early hours of Saturday morning, tourists from the UK and Mozambique were lucky to escape the claws of the alleged panga-gang after being held at gunpoint  with two 9mm pistols at the well-known Bee-Eaters guesthouse and catering farm just outside the city.

According to Mr. Jacques Meiring from Bossies Community Justice, it is suspected that it is the same gang that is responsible for the numerous panga attacks in the Lowveld over the past few weeks.
This time they were however armed with firearms.

Two men gained access to the house after kicking out the glass of a door that leads to the outside, Meiring said

According to Meiring, the armed men entered the room where the husband, wife and their two children (from the UK) were sleeping. The four however managed to escape and locked themselves up in another room where the wife’s family was sleeping.
According to Meiring the family told the attackers that they were going to call the police but the attackers were determined to gain access and shouted various threats to the family hiding behind the door. The attackers entered the room and hit the husband and wife respectively. They however did not sustain serious injuries, but were traumatised.
The attackers fled with approximately R1 700 cash and six passports.

According to Meiring the same suspects allegedly tried to attack one of the security guards at the Botanical gardens earlier that night. The guard however managed to escape.

The attackers are still at large
