MBOMBELA – Shoppers will be delighted to know that the Crazy Store at I’langa Mall will be operational today after a car guard, driving a white Toyota Tazz, ploughed into the store on Saturday.
According to the mall’s general manager, Ms Sandy Human, the owner of the Tazz allegedly parked his vehicle in front of the store and asked the car guard to move the vehicle if anyone complained. “It is very clearly indicated that motorists are not allowed to park on that spot,” said Human.
The owner apparently left his keys in the vehicle and wanted to quickly run out to buy beer and ice. According to Human, the car guard later said the owner’s wife was also in the vehicle. A eyewitness took a photo of the Tazz and a woman can indeed be seen inside the vehicle with the car guard.
When the parking became congested, the guard wanted to move the vehicle, but panicked and drove through a prefab wall into the store. The owner claims he had parked his vehicle in the parking area and that he didn’t give permission to the guard to move it. He told Lowvelder, while holding his 12-pack of beer under his arm, that he was very upset and didn’t have insurance.
I’langa offered to pay for the towing service and Van Wettens towed the damaged vehicle to the owner’s house. The guard sustained minor injuries. He was taken to Rob Fereirra Hospital for observation and would be back at work soon.
The management of I’langa Mall is still investigating the incident.
