MALALANE – On Monday afternoon two suspects were denied bail when they appeared in the Malelane Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Mr Felisberto Vilanculo (39) and Mr Pecagio Vilanculo (25), were arrested at the Lebombo Border on Sunday night.
The two suspects arrived at the border in a white double-cab Toyota Hilux. After the police’s examination they realised the appearance of the vehicle had been changed, and registration papers were false.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen in Lyttelton, Gauteng on February 13 at about 01:00.
The suspects were detained at Komatipoort Police Station until they appeared in court, at the time of going to print the outcome of next court appearance, which was on Tuesday, was not yet known.
Meanwhile on Monday night, Komatipoort police recovered a Toyota Fortuner reported stolen in Potchefstroom.
The suspect, a 36-year-old Mozambican male was arrested at the Lebombo gate, after presenting fake vehicle-registration documents and number plates.
He was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and was expected to appear in the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court on February 16.
