Alleged attackers finally apprehended

The victim has good reason to believe that one of the perpetrators is a former employee.

HERMANSBURG – The suspects who are believed to be responsible for the attack on Ms Annelize le Roux last month, have been apprehended recently. They will appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court today. Read the full story here

Le Roux, a resident of the area for 15 years, was in her kitchen gathering some items for her mother, who had been scheduled to undergo an operation later that day. Three men barged in through the back door, tied her up with adhesive tape and demanded money. It is believed that all of the suspects who were allegedly responsible for the attack, along with the driver of the vehicle in which they had fled, were arrested.

Le Roux recalled how the men, carrying a steak knife and a panga, threatened to kill her if she continued to scream. One of the suspects apparently threatened to cut off her fingers if she did not stop crying.

At one stage, her domestic worker, who had also been tied up, recognised the voice of one of the attackers. She has good reason to believe that one of the perpetrators is a former employee.

They took Le Roux’s cellphone, laptop and an undisclosed amount of money.

The domestic worker managed to free herself after which she cut her employer loose. Le Roux notified her husband, who then alarmed the Hermansburg Community Forum.

It arrived at the scene within minutes, along with Bossies Community Justice, ACS Security, Hi-Tech Security Nelspruit and Nelspruit Concerned Citizens. Apart from a few bumps and bruises, both Le Roux and the domestic worker escaped unscathed.
