LYDENBURG – A police officer from Lydenburg SAPS was killed in cold blood by her boyfriend after an apparent domestic row.
The incident happened last night (Thursday) just after 18: 00. SAPS spokesperson, Capt. Alfred Moela confirmed the incident and said;
“It is with great sadness to announce the untimely death of Const. KG Mashila who was stationed at Lydenburg SAPS. It is alleged that the member was murdered by her boyfriend yesterday on 15 September, at her dwelling place in Mashishing.”
Mashila apparently reported off duty at 18h00 and went to her house. The neighbours reported to have heard noises coming from her house and went to investigate.

It was during that time when they found her lying in a pool of blood and her throat slit with a large bush knife. She was certified dead by paramedics on the scene. The suspect fled the scene and hanged himself in a tree in a neighbour’s backyard close to the crime scene.
More details will follow pending the investigation. Moela confirmed that both a murder and suicide case has been opened.
