TONGA – Police are investigating cases of hijacking and business robbery, perpetrated by the same group of men on Wednesday evening.
According to Tonga SAPS spokesperson Mzwandile Nyambi, a man gave two hitchhikers a lift at the Steenbok crossing on the Mananga road around 18:00. Four armed men approached them and ordered them to get out of the vehicle. The victims were tied up and robbed of cellphones and cash, before the suspects left.
An hour later, the four men were spotted at Naas Mafambisa, where they robbed the shop of an Indian national. Cash, two cellphones and airtime vouchers were stolen.
The vehicle was later recovered in bushes in Steenbok.
Cases of hijacking and business robbery were opened.
Police are still looking for the suspects.
