Train ploughs into diesel tanker

The cabin was lying on the left-hand side while the tanker full of diesel came to a standstill on the right-hand side of the train.

A Tanker Services truck collided with a train at a railway crossing on the R555 near Ohrigstad on Wednesday morning. The force of the impact tore the truck in two. The cabin was lying on the left-hand side while the tanker full of diesel came to a standstill on the right-hand side of the train. According to bystanders, the truck failed to cross the railway in time. The train crashed into it and dragged the truck for several metres on its side. Nobody was injured, although the two drivers were rattled and did not want to speak to the newspaper. By 13:00 some of the train carriages had been disconnected, and the road was reopened for traffic. By the time of going to print, none of the companies could be reached for comment.
