Aggravated residents of Coromandel blockaded the road and turned violent during a protest action on Wednesday, October 12.

This follows after Thaba Chweu Municipality (TCM) switched off illegal connections in the area.

When Steelburger/Lydenburg News arrived at the scene mostly women were dancing, shouting and taunting police officers on the Duullstroom road (Coromandel turn-off).

While police were monitoring the situation, the men started to run towards the road.

Joined then by the women, they broke past the police and barricaded the road around a turn some 200 metres from the turn-off.
