Man arrested in Hazyview for possession of unlicensed firearm

The man is expected to appear in the Hazyview Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, facing charges related to unlawful gun possession.

A 35-year-old man was arrested in Hazyview today, December 15, after he was found in possession of a rifle.

According to the Hazyview Police Station’s spokesperson, Sergeant Zenzele Ndlovu, some SAPS officers were conducting a stop-and-search operation when they pulled over a white Citi Golf.

“The officers searched the car and found an unlicensed firearm, some rifle ammunition, SIM cards and some cash. The driver was then detained and charged. The gun will also be taken for ballistic testing to verify if it had previously been used to commit any crime,” she said.

The man is expected to appear in the Hazyview Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, December 17.
