WATCH | Eight injured in Steiltes road accident

Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision.

Eight people were injured when two vehicles collided near Shandon Estate in the Steiltes area of Mbombela this evening (Thursday, June 5).

The road was closed shortly before 18:00 for about two hours and the injured were transported to a local hospital for medical care.

The cause of the accident is still unknown and forms part of ongoing investigations.

One of the first people to arrive at the scene (who asked not be named) confirmed that eight people from both vehicles were injured.

“When l arrived at the scene people were scattered all over. It was fortunate that there were no fatalities and various ambulances transported the injured to hospital,” said the man.

The condition of the injured people is still unknown at this stage.

The spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Moeti Mmusi, warned motorists to always be cautious on the roads.
