GRAPHIC CONTENT: Motorist burnt beyond recognition in Mbombela
The cause of the accident is unknown at this stage, but an investigation is under way.
An occupant of a vehicle that was involved in an accident on the R40 between Rocky Drift and Bundu Lodge on Sunday, June 15, was burnt beyond recognition.
According to Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med, they received information at about 15:50, with multiple photos from the scene of a vehicle that was on fire.
“The fire brigade, police, and traffic officers were activated; however, by the time we arrived at the scene, the firefighters were already extinguishing the fire. Reports surfaced that there were occupants trapped in the burning vehicle. Once the fire was out, a single occupant was found burnt beyond recognition. Our emergency personnel searched the area for any potential patients who may have been ejected, and none was found,” he said.

Jeffrey added that the victim was declared dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security, and Liaison’s spokesperson, Moeti Mmusi, said the cause of the accident is unknown at this stage. An investigation is under way.

Mmusi called on motorists to always drive with caution and obey the rules of the road. He advised that drivers take breaks to rest when they are tired.
He also sent a message of condolences to the deceased’s family.
