The road, which was temporarily closed to allow emergency personnel to attend to the injured, has since been reopened to traffic. Recovery of the bus is still under way.

Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety and Security Liaison, said an investigation is under way to determine the cause of the accident.

He also urged all public transport operators to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before transporting large numbers of passengers.
