UPDATE: Woman transported to hospital following Playbet shooting

The victim is believed to have been a bystander.

A woman who was shot during an attempted cash-in-transit (CIT) heist at Playbet in White River earlier this afternoon, September 29, has been stabilised and transported to Themba Provincial Hospital in Kabokweni for further treatment.

She is believed to have been a bystander caught in the crossfire.

Martin Jeffrey of Emer-G-Med confirmed that she sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen and remains in a critical condition.

Jchaan de Beer, a community operational manager from ADT Fidelity White River confirmed that the suspects tried to rob a Fidelity CIT vehicle that stopped at Playbet and fled the scene after emergency services arrived.

They were spotted in a white Toyota Hilux and is still on the run. Police are actively searching for the vehicle.
