Two injured in accident on R37 near White River

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

Two people were injured during a head-on collision on the R37/Sabie Road on Monday, November 3.

The accident involved an SUV and a double-cab bakkie.

According to Jan Oberholzer of Divergent Emergency Medical Services, who responded to the scene, both patients had already been removed from their vehicles upon arrival. However, they were both seriously injured.

“We treated them at the scene before transporting them to the nearest hospital for further medical attention. There were no fatalities and no other passengers in either car,” he said.

Meanwhile, Moeti Mmusi, spokesperson for the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, confirmed they are aware of the accident and an investigation is under way to determine the cause.

“I am calling on all motorists to drive with caution, especially now that we are in a rainy season and some roads are slippery. In some instances, there is mist, which can hinder their view, so drivers need to be cautious and stop if they cannot continue. Do not speed,” he said.

Mmusi also wished both drivers a speedy recovery.
