Picasso’s Mexican Taqueria, the landmark eatery located in the old Barnyard at Casterbridge in White River, was ravaged by a fire just after midnight on November 25.

“My staff closed the restaurant at about 21:00 when they finished their shift, but we received a call at midnight that the place was on fire. By the time the fire department arrived and contained it, the place was already destroyed, as everything had burnt down. But I believe that the investigation will reveal the cause,” he said.

Snyman, who had owned the restaurant for the past six months, said it had been doing very well.

He is devastated and said it would take time to accept what has happened, as the place meant a lot to him.

The restaurant had created jobs for almost 30 people, including several young employees.
