Suspects gain access to Lydenburg bank and flee with undisclosed amount of money

A Lydenburg bank has fallen victim to criminals.

Lydenburg SAPS has opened a case of business burglary and is currently seeking an unknown number of suspects following an incident at a well-known banking institution.

According to reports, when staff members arrived at work on Wednesday, December 17, they noticed something was wrong and immediately informed the bank manager.

Security and SAPS were alerted. Both crime prevention units conducted an inspection of the premises and established that the ATM room and ATM had been tampered with, and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.

It is believed that the suspects gained access through the roof, and escaped the same way, in a daring local bank robbery.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspect(s) gained entry through the roof, as it was also damaged.

Police are appealing to members of the public for information that may assist in apprehending the suspect(s).
