State moves to revoke bail in Marco Schalekamp murder case
Marco Schalekamp is accused of the premeditated murder and attempted murder of Pieter Burger and Arno van Niekerk.
Murder-accused Marco Schalekamp appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court today, February 4, where the matter was postponed to March 5 and 6.
The state has filed a formal application to revoke Schalekamp’s bail based on Sections 66, 67 and 68 of the Criminal Procedure Act, which provide the legal framework for addressing breaches of bail conditions.
The state alleges that the accused has failed to adhere to the strict terms set for his release, necessitating a hearing to determine if he should await trial in custody.
