The SAB Castel Lite’s, Mngwenya stream, qualifiers for the last 32 Nedbank Knockout are progressing well.
Academy FC based in Pienaar, which is the first to come in the Nedbank games, defeated Mighty Bees 1-0 at Msogwaba Stadium last week and again on Sunday they maintained their dignity during the top four games that was held at Barberton prison farm grounds after they won 5-4 during a penalty shootout against Mdluli FC of Mataffeni.
This was after they played to a 3-3 draw.
Other teams that were part of the tournament were KaNyamazane Celtic that played against Green Mamba FC of Matsulu. That was a tough game, but at the end of the day Kanyamazane Celtic won by 3-2 , proceeding to the finals.
They played against Academy FC and drew 0-0. Both teams were forced into a penalty shootout where Academy defeated KaNyamazane FC by 3-2.
Speaking to the newly-appointed manager Sam Mnisi of the team after their great performance, he said, “I’m over the moon with our performance. This means that we are still moving in the right direction. It also gives us confidence that will win the trophy in the end.
“All I’m praying for is that my boys will not lose focus and be disciplined at all times. They really show they were not just playing,” he said.
He added that he’s aware that this was not going to be an easy journey since they still had a long way to go as they would be playing against powerful teams such as Mbombela United.
He added, “Our performance has instilled a positive attitude, but we still have a long way to go. We have to face teams like Mbombela United, but all I can say is “batawubona umbani sewufikile uma kungena I Academy FC ngoba asidlali siyabhacabula’ – we are going to win,“ he concluded.
