After 31 years of service to the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, Mopani Pharmacy is still a locally owned retail pharmacy firmly rooted in our community. This renowned pharmacy franchise offers a comprehensive product choice, excellent service and convenient health-care services.
“At Mopani Pharmacy we are proud of our established culture of service which our customers and suppliers enjoy through the smiling faces of our Mopani teams,” says Kathleen Bailie, marketing manager at Mopani.
“We believe that it is our personal relationships with our customers and patients that makes us a health care destination in the Lowveld.”
One of the many reasons that really sets Mopani apart from its competitors is the fact that it is still a locally and independently owned pharmacy where personal customer care is very important.
From what can be termed as humble beginnings in the ’80’s to the established Mopani brand that the community has learned to trust and embrace today, Mopani Pharmacy has continued to grow from strength to strength. The first shop opened its doors on March 24, 1982. The store was 100 square metres with a staff complement of five.
“Since then we have continued to grow, implementing new initiatives aiming at enhancing customers’ experiences and forging our reputation as a trusted, established community pharmacy. Today, 31 years after opening our doors for the first time, Mopani Pharmacy employs more than 150 team members with founder and managing director Rob Gibbs still at the helm,” says Bailie.
She adds that besides being an independent pharmacy it is their goal to support and assist the community they work in. “Our passion is to serve. Our staff are well informed and offer a high level of service and personal attention throughout our various departments.”
At Mopani they also stay abreast of new technology and so a new staff member was recently appointed. Spencer is however a staff member with a difference. This robot dispenses medication and this gives its human pharmacist colleagues more time to consult with patients.
But how do the staff at Mopani stay so friendly and helpful?
“We do use a winning recipe,” Bailie confides. “The teams meet weekly. There is weekly training and also we never forget about the basics in retail.”

Bailie adds that the entire Mopani team wanted to say a huge thank you to the Lowveld community for supporting and voting for them.

“Our Mopani Card was launched in 2008. It has been an absolute winner with our customers as they are rewarded every three months with great rewards vouchers. This we believe keeps them coming back to support us.
