Former provincial swimmer and sport scientist, Nelia Pienaar, started the Guppie swimming academy near White River 13 years ago with 12 swimmers.
Through hard work and many hours in the pool, the numbers increased to reach 200. This includes those learning how to swim as well as competitive swimmers.
The success of the academy has lead to it expanding its services to Nelspruit at the newly revamped Van Riebeeck Park swimming pool.
Guppie is registered with Mpumalanga Swim and SA swim.
Pienaar says that she is excited to start the academy in Nelspruit with enthusiastic coach, Mareli van der Merwe.
So, if your little (or not so little) ones need to learn how to swim or to refine their style, contact this dedicated team to join the club. Competitive or squad training is also available.
