A memorable golf day for the Memorable Order of Tin Hats!

Cold and rainy weather did not discourage more than 50 keen golf players who gathered on the greens in aid of the M.O.T.H. clubhouse and the Sabie Retirement Home last weekend.

SABIE – The M.O.T.H. Club in Sabie, the Jock Shellhole, hosted this fundraising golf day.

“One of the ideals is to maintain the living spirit of frontline comradeship through mutual help. Each Shellhole choose their own charity, and because so many people forget the retirement homes, we decided to support the Sabie Retirement Home,” explained Archie Knoesen, adjudant of Jock Shellhole and organizer of the golf day.

“We hope that the people of Sabie will also support the sale of poppies on November 8 for Remembrance Day, normally held on November 11. All the proceeds of the day go to the Sabie Retirement Home.”

Without sponsors the golf days would not be the same. Merry Pebbles, Floreat Hotel, Attilio’s Restaurant, Hazyview Cash & Carry, Wild Fig Tree Restaurant, Supa Quick Sabie, Plato Hydraulics, Sabie Country Club and Nelspruit Moth’s sponsored the prizes which helped to make the day even more successful.

Winners of these prizes are as follows:

1st place – Chris van Rensburg, Etienne Quin, UT Smit and Eddie Swanepoel with 89 points;

2nd place -Raymond van der Merwe, Ed Fraser, Joe Roberts and Ron Reeves-Moore with 88 points;

3rd place – Johan Burger, Weber de Klerk, Natie Kruger and Fiaz Bhikhoo with 87 points.

The ladies winners were Elsa Claunch en Leanne Abercrombie.

A special word of thanks to all the people who helped with the organizing and hard work. Without their help the golf day would not have been possible.
